Basketball Recap: King Lions vs. Strawberry Crest Chargers

King's game on Friday was all tied up 36-36 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They received a blow as they fell 87-70 to the Strawberry Crest Chargers. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

King's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rodney Smith, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 18 points and five boards. Smith has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. George (TJ) Daniels was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine assists.

Strawberry Crest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Hall out in front who went 11-for-22 to rack up 25 points and six rebounds. What's more, Hall posted four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maximus Von Ancken, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, King fell to 2-1. As for Strawberry Crest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

King has already played their next game, a 62-29 defeat against Miramar on the 28th. As for Strawberry Crest, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd.
