Basketball Recap: Zay Burton Key Part of a Team Effort in Lancers Win

There's no place like home for Cambridge Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They snuck past the Out-of-Door Academy Thunder with a 38-34 win on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-37 back in December of 2024.

Cambridge Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zay Burton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Burton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. Ian Jansen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Cambridge Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Cambridge Christian pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Out-of-Door Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-11 record.

Cambridge Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-40 victory against Sarasota Christian on the 24th. Out-of-Door Academy has also already played their next game (against Sarasota Military Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
