Football Game Preview: Roncalli Royals vs. Heritage Hills Patriots

Roncalli is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Heritage Hills is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Royals will challenge the Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 893 yards in their previous games.

Roncalli is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 31-27 W over Yorktown. Roncalli's win was all the more impressive since the Tigers were averaging only 12.75 points allowed on the season.

Roncalli's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Ash, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 218 yards and one TD on only 16 passes. That's the most passing yards Ash has posted since back in September of 2024. A healthy portion of Ash's aerial production (116 yards to be exact) went to Alex Jarvis, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Roncalli was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 188 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Heritage Hills didn't have too much trouble with Martinsville on Friday as they won 35-19.

Roncalli better keep an eye on Micah Toler. He was instrumental in Heritage Hills' win, picking up 131 receiving yards and one score.

Roncalli's record now sits at 10-3. As for Heritage Hills, their record is now 12-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Roncalli has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Heritage Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 257.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
