Baseball Recap: Greenwood Wins Going Away Against Indianapolis Kings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Columbus East, Greenwood was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on Indianapolis Kings with a sharp 19-0 victory. With that win, the Woodmen brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Jayden Pierce made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He also snagged a stolen base, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan King, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Waveland Goodrich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.

Greenwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Greenwood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.
