Basketball Game Preview: Red Bud Musketeers vs. Freeburg Midgets

Red Bud is 0-10 against Freeburg since December of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Red Bud Musketeers will challenge the Freeburg Midgets at 12:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Red Bud is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Pinckneyville, falling 73-42. While losing is never fun, the Musketeers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Panthers are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Freeburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-55 heartbreaker at the hands of Marissa/Coulterville.

Red Bud will need focus on slowing down Matt Pluff, one of several Freeburg players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points. Jase Brentlinger was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Red Bud's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Freeburg, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Red Bud came up short against Freeburg in their previous meeting last Tuesday, falling 57-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Freeburg's Brady Kerr, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
