 Apex won the last time they faced Apex Friendship, and things went their way  on Thursday too. The Apex Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Apex Friendship Patriots  and snuck past  3-1.
  Alyssa Kaufman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  a single  walk in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side, Apex's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Leah Kendall, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.  Avery Dearman was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI.
 On Apex Friendship's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Brianna Spero gave up only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.
 At the plate, Apex Friendship saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Lauren Archambault, who  went 1-for-3 with a  triple and a  run.
 Apex's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Apex Friendship, their defeat  ended  a  seven-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 5-1.
 After both having extra time off, Apex and Middle Creek will shake off the cobwebs and  face off against  one another  at 6:00  p.m.  on April 2nd. As for Apex Friendship, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Panther Creek at 4:30  p.m.  on April 2nd.
