Baseball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. Earlville Red Raiders

The West Carroll Thunder will face off against the Earlville Red Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

West Carroll came up short against Newman Central Catholic on Thursday, falling 20-5. The Thunder have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jacen Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Winter Harrington, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Earlville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Beloit.

Earlville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declan Brennan, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Brennan is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

West Carroll now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Earlville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

West Carroll might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Earlville in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can West Carroll avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
