Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Northridge Academy's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sherman Oaks CES, Northridge Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the East Valley Falcons as they made off with a 22-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Pumas, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Alondra Laguna was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Northridge Academy let Jackie Nettles and Alana Kramer run wild. Nettles went a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Kramer got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave Nettles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Campa, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Northridge Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They are 14-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Northridge Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.6 runs over those games. As for East Valley, they moved to 6-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Northridge Academy will square off against Vaughn at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas are facing the White Tigers at the right time seeing as the White Tigers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for East Valley, they will challenge Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vipers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.09 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
