Softball Recap: Bloomington Triumphs

Bloomington took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against San Gorgonio, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bruins had just enough and edged out the Spartans 4-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bruins as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Stacy Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Bloomington let Alyssa Ceballos and Izabella Reyes run wild. Ceballos went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Reyes went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Ceballos a new career-high. Kaja Wright was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Bloomington's victory bumped their record up to 3-12. As for San Gorgonio, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14-1 record this season.

Bloomington will take on Colton in a tournament on Monday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. San Gorgonio does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
