Softball Recap: Brunswick Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Brunswick won against Medina last Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand the Strongsville Mustangs a 7-0 shutout. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Gabby Diligente's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Williams, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Delainey Andolek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strongsville only managed four hits.

Brunswick's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Strongsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Brunswick will have a chance to go back-to-back against Strongsville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
