Baseball Recap: Skyline Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Skyline, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They never let the Valley Vista Monsoon get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Monsoon: they've now won five in a row.

The result came thanks to Easton Leon's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Skyline's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Julian Otero, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Skyline pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Vista, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3.

Coming up, Skyline will take on Yuma at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Valley Vista, they will face off against Pinnacle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
