Baseball Recap: Polk County Takes a Loss

Polk County lost against Roane County back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats fell 6-2 to the Yellowjackets.

Tucker Lanning was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaden Branham, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Polk County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Roane County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-7-1.

While Polk County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
