RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Upland (Calif.) on Saturday, totaling 18 points as the Highlanders/Scots bested Los Osos (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) 47-7.
The Highlanders/Scots were up 20-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter.
Upland secured its victory by scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 40.
Nate Romine played well for UHS in the victory. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
Taylor Ragland played well for the Grizzlies. The senior wide receiver threw one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
Los Osos' lone touchdown came on a 55-yard pass from Ragland to Victor Bolden in the fourth quarter.

Joe Mathis, Coming into the game the Highlanders/Scots had allowed 18.9 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding LO well below its season average of 28.7 points scored per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-21 win for UHS.
The defeat comes as a step back for Los Osos, which notched a 41-7 victory over Alta Loma in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Rancho Cucamonga school's 2-game winning streak.
Los Osos (4-4) will play a Baseline game against Rancho Cucamonga next week, while Upland (8-0) will take on Alta Loma also in a Baseline game.
