Recap: Van Alstyne Panthers vs. Wills Point Tigers
With a playoff game on the line, the Van Alstyne Panthers rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 27-20 win over Wills Point. The win was familiar territory for Van Alstyne who now have four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Alstyne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Weston Johnston, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Brady Carson was another key contributor, picking up 133 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Wills Point still got an impressive performance from Jett Fletcher, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Van Alstyne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Wills Point, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Van Alstyne will square off against Carthage at TBD on Friday. Carthage has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 452 points over their last ten matchups. Wills Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
