Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Wren's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Wren had won two straight road games and Greyson Austin did his part to make it three on Friday. The Wren Hurricanes secured a 63-57 W over the Laurens Raiders thanks in part to Austin, who went 5 of 7 to rack up 16 points. What's more, he also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Abijah Franklin, who posted 15 points and three steals. His evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Laurens' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Q Quinton Watts, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and four steals. Watts has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. DJ Dondrevious Martin was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six assists and three steals.

Wren is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Laurens, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.

Wren has already played their next contest, a 72-38 win against Southside on the 4th. As for Laurens, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-50 victory against Clinton on the 1st.
