Basketball Recap: Perry Central Takes Down Pike Central in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Perry Central had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They managed a 52-48 victory over the Pike Central Chargers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-34 back in December of 2024.

Pike Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Davis, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Davis a new career-high. Jiles Mason was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Perry Central and bumps their season record up to 15-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Pike Central, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-23.

Perry Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 39-37 loss against Evansville Mater Dei on the 7th. Pike Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
