Basketball Recap: Coalfield Takes a Loss

Coalfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 57-48 to the Oliver Springs Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-32 back in January.

Ethan Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Oliver Springs, going 8 for 14 to rack up 22 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Jones' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Jaxon Jett was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Coalfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Oliver Springs, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-13.

Looking ahead, Coalfield is taking a road trip to square off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oliver Springs, they will host Oneida at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Oliver Springs' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Oneida has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
