Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Loss

Holy Cross lost against Geneva back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Holy Cross Knights and the Geneva Eagles didn't end well, with the Holy Cross Knights falling 72-56. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 877th, while the Eagles are ranked 216th).

When it comes to explaining why Holy Cross lost, don't look at Aaron Garcia. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. Garcia has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ray Martinez, who posted nine points.

Holy Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Geneva, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Holy Cross didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 84-23 win against The Christian School at Castle Hills on the 17th. As for Geneva, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-52 victory against New Braunfels Christian Academy on the 17th.
