Baseball Recap: Berrien Springs Shamrocks vs. Buchanan Bucks
Berrien Springs extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They came up short against the Buchanan Bucks, falling 13-2. The Shamrocks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Brody Brewer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple and one run.
As for Buchanan, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 16-4).
On Buchanan's side, Lucas Zeiger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave Zeiger a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ari Johnson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Holden Carrington also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
While Berrien Springs had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
