Baseball Recap: Jac-Cen-Del Find Success

Jac-Cen-Del took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Switzerland County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pacers 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Pacers on Saturday, they had to take a 7-1 loss.

Blake Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jac-Cen-Del is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jac-Cen-Del's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Ricke, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

The victory snapped Jac-Cen-Del's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-7 record. As for Switzerland County, their record is now 12-9.

Coming up, Jac-Cen-Del will be playing in front of their home fans against Rising Sun at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Shiners have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Switzerland County, they will head out on the road to challenge Southwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
