Basketball Game Preview: Ballard Bombers vs. North Polk Comets

The Ballard Bombers will take on the North Polk Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ballard has 11 straight victories, North Polk has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Ballard is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Boone 89-57 on Tuesday. Given the Bombers' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Toreadors are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, North Polk suffered their biggest loss since December 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Gilbert 70-43.

Ballard's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for North Polk, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
