Softball Recap: Dallas Has No Trouble Against Corvallis

Dallas got themselves on the board against Corvallis on Wednesday, but Corvallis never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dragons yet this season.

Madi Ruman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ruby Halligan and Kadence Tullock did most of the damage at the plate: Halligan scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Tullock scored three runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most hits Halligan has posted since back in March. Ava Woods was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Dallas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corvallis only posted a batting average of .125.

Dallas' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Corvallis, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
