Recap: Lawrence North Wildcats vs. Norwell Knights
On Saturday, the Lawrence North Wildcats faced the Norwell Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lawrence North had just enough and edged Norwell out 57-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lawrence North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Naja Winston led the charge by scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kya Hurt, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lawrence North and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for Norwell, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.
Lawrence North and Westfield will face off at 10:00 a.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ellie Kelleher and Hurt. Norwell and Fort Wayne Snider will round out the year against one another at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at. Fort Wayne Snider is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
