Basketball Recap: Magdalena Comes Up Short

Magdalena was the 43-34 winner over Cliff when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Magdalena Steers fell 49-39 to the Cliff Cowboys/Cowgirls on Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why Magdalena lost, don't look at Joseph Zamora. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-15 en route to 18 points. Zamora's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Herschbach, who posted 13 points.

Magdalena's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 19-5. As for Cliff, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Magdalena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-17 victory against Quemado on the 15th. As for Cliff, they have also already played their next game, a 54-36 win against Non Varsity Opponent on the 17th.
