Softball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

After flying high against Van Nuys last Friday, Hoover came back down to earth. The Hoover Tornados lost 20-10 to the San Gabriel Matadors on Tuesday.

Hoover got a massive performance out of Natalie Menasaka, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Menasaka is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Sophia Hernandez was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Hoover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for San Gabriel, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.

Looking ahead, Hoover will square off against Frazier Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hoover is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season. As for San Gabriel, they will head out on the road to square off against Temple City at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
