Softball Preview: Milpitas Trojans vs. Los Altos Eagles
The Milpitas Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Los Altos Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Milpitas will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Milpitas narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Wilcox 3-2.
Priyah Quinonez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Jaye Hudson was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Los Altos got themselves on the board against Fremont on Wednesday, but Fremont never followed suit. They came out on top against the Firebirds by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Sophia Asar made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Asar was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a double.
In other batting news, Lily Whiting was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Skaggs, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Milpitas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Los Altos, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Everything went Milpitas' way against Los Altos in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as Milpitas made off with a 7-0 win.
