Softball Game Preview: Midland Bulldogs vs. Frenship Tigers

The Midland Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Frenship Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Midland comes in on four and Frenship on 17.

On Friday, Midland was able to grind out a solid win over Midland Legacy, taking the game 5-2.

Malayah Carillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avrey Ochoa was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Bree Battenfelder, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Frenship took on San Angelo Central on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 9-3 victory. Considering the Tigers have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Frenship pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Midland, their record is now 25-5.
