Baseball Recap: Dayton Takes a Loss

Dayton extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-10 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fernley Vaqueros. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Dust Devils have suffered since March 15th.

As for Fernley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since February 27th.

For Fernley's part, Dylon Comer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Riley McCullar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Juliot was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fernley beat Dayton by a score of 10-3 later that day.
