Football Recap: Henley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Cascade Christian

Henley faced Cascade Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hornets were outmatched by the Challengers and fell 43-16. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Challengers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Henley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Joseph Janney, who rushed for 46 yards and one TD, and also threw for 132 yards on 12 of 23 attempts. Henley also got help from Kai Montag, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cascade Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deryk Farmer, who rushed for 80 yards and three scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 164 yards while completing 76.9% of his passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns Farmer has posted since back in November of 2024. Bryson Walker was another key back, rushing for 87 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries.

This is the second loss in a row for Henley and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Cascade Christian, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Henley and Cascade Christian will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Hornets are set to challenge their familiar foe Hidden Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cascade Christian will face off against rival Klamath Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
