Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Piedmont Hills

Piedmont Hills was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They blew past the Pioneer Mustangs 14-1. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Piedmont Hills got a massive performance out of Ava Delagrande, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Delagrande is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Kimora Perez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Delagrande wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Piedmont Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for Piedmont Hills: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.

The win (which was Piedmont Hills' sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Piedmont Hills will head out to square off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Piedmont Hills' pitchers better be ready for this one: Lincoln has averaged an impressive 13 runs per game this season. As for Pioneer, they will welcome Del Mar at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Del Mar has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something Pioneer will no doubt try to take advantage of.
