Softball Recap: Shoemaker Gets the Win

Shoemaker's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Harker Heights Knights 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kylee Czaplicki made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Czaplicki was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor McClinton was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Shoemaker is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Harker Heights and nudges their season record down to 16-7.

Coincidentally, Shoemaker and Harker Heights will both be playing Temple the next time they take the field. Harker Heights will head out to face Temple at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Shoemaker will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
