Volleyball Recap: Northwestern Regional Beats Gilbert for Their Third Straight Win

Northwestern Regional entered their tilt with Gilbert on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Yellowjackets. The Highlanders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellowjackets, too.

In the three sets Northwestern Regional was on fire: they won each by at least ten points. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-15.

Sophie Stanulis was the offensive standout of the contest as she had ten digs and three aces. Those ten digs gave her a new career-high. Grace Stimson also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Northwestern Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Northwestern Regional's record now sits at 6-2. As for Gilbert, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Northwestern Regional will head out on the road to face off against Lewis Mills at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilbert will be paying especially close attention to the Highlanders' game: after the Highlanders face off against Granby Memorial, they'll take on Gilbert again at 5:15 p.m. on October 24.
