Softball Preview: Zephyrhills Bulldogs vs. Mitchell Mustangs
Zephyrhills hasn't had much luck against Mitchell recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Zephyrhills has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Friday just wasn't the day for Zephyrhills' offense. They came up short against Wiregrass Ranch on Friday, falling 15-0. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Mitchell got themselves on the board against Pasco on Thursday, but Pasco never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Savannah Toukatly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other batting news, Taylor Tucker was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Taryn Newton also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
