Baseball Recap: A.J. Ellender Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for A.J. Ellender, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Patterson Lumberjacks on Monday by a score of 8-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Dakota Porche made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. A.J. Ellender is 6-2 when Porche posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kadyn Guidry was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Rodrigue, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

The victory got A.J. Ellender back to even at 11-11. As for Patterson, they dropped their record down to 3-19 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A.J. Ellender will challenge Assumption at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Patterson, they will square off against Donaldsonville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
