Basketball Recap: Galena Park Comes Up Short

Galena Park lost against Sterling back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Galena Park Yellowjackets fell 74-64 to the Sterling Raiders. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Galena Park lost, don't look at Alexander Reyes. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Reyes a new career-high. Giobani Campos also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Even though they lost, Galena Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They posted six more assists than Sterling's also-impressive total of 11.

Sterling got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tristan August out in front who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Sterling is undefeated when August posts 15 or more points, but 11-13 otherwise. Braydon Hughes was another key player, on his way to 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Galena Park's defeat dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Sterling, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Galena Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sterling, they have already played their next match, a 77-47 loss against Fort Bend Marshall on the 18th.
