Basketball Game Preview: El Dorado Aztecs vs. Parkland Matadors

El Dorado hasn't had much luck against Parkland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The El Dorado Aztecs are taking a road trip to square off against the Parkland Matadors at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

El Dorado's tournament run continued when they took on Coronado on Saturday. El Dorado fell 43-34 to Coronado. While losing is never fun, the Aztecs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 629th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 149th).

El Dorado's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacob Villalobos, who posted 12 points, and Adrian Rodriguez, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, Parkland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Eldorado.

Parkland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for El Dorado, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

El Dorado beat Parkland 42-35 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Dorado since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
