Basketball Recap: Southridge Comes Up Short

Southridge lost against Chiawana back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southridge Suns fell to the Chiawana Riverhawks 71-65. While losing is never fun, the Suns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Riverhawks are ranked 25th).

Southridge dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Chiawana, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

When Southridge and Chiawana next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Southridge will square off against Walla Walla and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Meanwhile, Chiawana will try to stop Richland's 16-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
