Basketball Recap: Bishop Manogue Falls Short of Damonte Ranch in the Playoffs

Bishop Manogue and Damonte Ranch squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Bishop Manogue had to settle for second. They fell 64-54 to the Damonte Ranch Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Bishop Manogue saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eli Benna went 6-for-10 on his way to 12 points and eight assists. Benna is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Liam Sorensen was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Damonte Ranch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeriah Macias, who went 6-for-15 en route to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Dodson, who posted 18 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Bishop Manogue's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Damonte Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Bishop Manogue does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Damonte Ranch, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 67-49 defeat against Spanish Springs on the 15th.
