Basketball Recap: North East Indians vs. Perryville Panthers
North East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Perryville Panthers, falling 60-24. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Panthers are ranked 88th).
Leading Perryville to victory were Carsyn Hulbert and Zoey Graves. Hulbert posted 19 points in addition to seven steals and five boards, while Graves went 6 of 14 to rack up 14 points and four steals. Hulbert is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Stanley, who had 11 points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
North East's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Perryville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
Looking ahead, North East will square off against Harford Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Perryville, they will head out to take on Joppatowne at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
