Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Chazy

Chazy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Crown Point on Monday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Elijah Valentin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Novak Jarus, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Chazy is undefeated when Jarus posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise.

The win was the third in a row for Chazy, bringing their record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Crown Point, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
