Basketball Recap: Teryn Hobson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lugoff-Elgin over Spring Valley

Lugoff-Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a hard 61-46 fall against the Spring Valley Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 84-31 back in January.

Lugoff-Elgin's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teryn Hobson, who posted 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kendra Wilson, who earned eight points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Spring Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariana Moody out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Crosland, who went 8-for-20 en route to 18 points and four steals.

Lugoff-Elgin's record now sits at 8-18. As for Spring Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Lugoff-Elgin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spring Valley, they will take on West Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Florence has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Spring Valley will come in with three straight victories.
