Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Guilford Falcons vs. Greensboro Day School Bengals

The Southeast Guilford Falcons will take on the Greensboro Day School Bengals in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast Guilford has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight defeats, while Greensboro Day School will come in with 14 straight victories.

On Wednesday, Southeast Guilford came up short against Williams and fell 71-62. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 127th).

Despite their loss, Southeast Guilford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brodie Atkins, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 22 points and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Atkins' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jayce Brannon, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 19 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Greensboro Day School blew past Ravenscroft, posting a 79-44 win. The Bengals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Greensboro Day School's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Southeast Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Southeast Guilford ended up a good deal behind Greensboro Day School when the teams last played back in December of 2022, losing 61-42. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
