Basketball Recap: Mary Walker Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mary Walker came into Thursday's match having lost 15 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They escaped with a win on Thursday against the Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame Knights by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Knights back in December of 2024, they had to take a 60-48 defeat.

Mary Walker was led to victory by Lewis Adolph IV and Andru Pinyan. Adolph IV went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Pinyan dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 boards. The dominant performance also gave Pinyan a new career-high in assists (seven). Another player making a difference was Aiden Hinners, who posted seven points.

Mary Walker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Mary Walker's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 3-17. As for Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
