Volleyball Recap: Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints vs. Waynedale Golden Bears

Tuscarawas Central Catholic had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Waynedale Golden Bears by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-16, 25-11.

Khloe Trivoli paced Tuscarawas Central Catholic's offense, picking up 14 kills. Trivoli got some help from Jessica Selinsky and her 19 assists. Selinsky also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Nora Jackson, racking up two apiece.

Waynedale can attribute much of their success to Mya Spitler, who had eight aces and three digs. Those three digs gave Spitler a new career-high.

Coincidentally, Tuscarawas Central Catholic and Waynedale will both be playing Garaway the next time they take the court. The Saints will head out to face the Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Golden Bears will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
