Preview: Heppner Mustangs vs. Grant Union Prospectors
Heppner is 9-1 against Grant Union since September of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Heppner Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Grant Union Prospectors at 7:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Heppner fell victim to Weston-McEwen/Griswold's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a hard 14-0 fall against the Tiger Scots. Heppner's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Grant Union's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Stanfield at home and fell 54-26.
Heppner's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Grant Union, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Heppner strolled past Grant Union when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 14-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heppner since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
