Basketball Recap: Decatur Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Decatur extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 15-4. They blew past the Prestonwood Christian Lions 60-37. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Decatur's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Style Brazile, who went 9-for-15 en route to 20 points and five assists. The contest was Brazile's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Bralyn Peck, who posted 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

As for Prestonwood Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Decatur is ranked 22nd).

Prestonwood Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Gossman, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 12 points and three steals. Gossman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Cara Collins was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Decatur didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-31 victory against Lorena on the 29th. As for Prestonwood Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-42 win against Red Oak on the 29th.
