Preview: Wyatt Chaparrals vs. Southwest Raiders

Wyatt has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Southwest Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wyatt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday.

Last Wednesday, Wyatt strolled past Trimble Tech with points to spare, taking the game 49-30. The win was just what Wyatt needed coming off of a 61-34 loss in their prior game.

Wyatt's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Javia Lane, who scored ten points along with four steals, and Jordyn Lee Mathis, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lane has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tianna Johnson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Southwest unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were beaten by Everman 80-22. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwest in their matchups with Everman: they've now lost nine in a row.

Wyatt has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything came up roses for Wyatt against Southwest in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 74-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wyatt since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
