Baseball Recap: Dixie County Takes a Loss

After flying high against P.K. Yonge last Friday, Dixie County came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Chiefland Indians by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bears have suffered against the Indians since February 23, 2021.

Joel Lord made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He has become a key player for Dixie County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaheim Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Dixie County's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Chiefland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Dixie County will take on Saint Francis Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Chiefland, they will face off against Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
