Baseball Game Preview: Grace Christian Grizzlies vs. Soldotna Stars

Grace Christian is 1-7 against Soldotna since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Grizzlies will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Stars at 5:30 p.m. Neither Grace Christian nor Soldotna posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Grace Christian is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Palmer, falling 22-0.

Meanwhile, Soldotna faced Eagle River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Stars took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The game marked the first time this season in which the Stars were not able to get on the board.

Jett Brophty was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Soldotna saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Blough, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Soldotna has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-2 record this season. As for Grace Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
