Volleyball Recap: Elianna Bancroft's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Skyline over Seton Catholic

Skyline lost against Seton Catholic back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Coyotes fell 2-0 to the Sentinels.

Skyline's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elianna Bancroft, who had two aces and one block. Bancroft has been hot, having also posted 15 or more assists the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Clara Lopez, who had four aces and one block.

Leading Seton Catholic to victory were Claire Kochis and Hannah Ostrowski. Kochis had seven digs and one assist, while Ostrowski had nine assists. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Steinkamp also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Skyline has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Seton Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Skyline will challenge Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Seton Catholic, they will square off against Apache Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
